American Dreamers

The Sunday Times asked me to write about what it's like for an American to make a home in the UK. Following last week's election, many are Googling with an eye to emigration, and I don't blame you. We moved to London almost ten years ago because we loved England, we knew we could work here, and we imagined it would be an easier (and possibly more pleasant) place to raise children than New York City. We thought we knew what we were getting into! Here's how one aspect of life--home--has changed for us. At the end of what's been a sleepless and upsetting week for many of us, I hope it provides some comic relief.
